Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") outlines the prohibited uses of anon.li services. This policy is an integral part of our Terms of Service. By using our services, you agree to abide by this policy.
1. Purpose
anon.li exists to protect your privacy. We provide email aliases and encrypted file sharing to help you control your digital identity. However, privacy tools must not be used to harm others. This policy ensures our platform remains safe and trustworthy for all users.
2. Prohibited Content
You may not use our services to store, share, or distribute any content that violates applicable law or this policy. Prohibited content includes:
2.1. Illegal Content

Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM): We have a zero-tolerance policy for CSAM. Any such content will be immediately reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), relevant law enforcement agencies, and applicable authorities in Liechtenstein and the EU.

Terrorism & Violent Extremism: Content that promotes terrorism, violent extremism, or incites violence against individuals or groups.

Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery (NCII): "Revenge porn" or any other non-consensual intimate or sexual content.

Copyright Infringement: Content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others. See our DMCA Policy for takedown procedures.

Other Illegal Content: Any content that violates the laws of Liechtenstein, the European Union, or the jurisdiction of the user.
2.2. Harmful Content

Malware: Files containing viruses, trojans, ransomware, spyware, or any other malicious software.

Phishing: Content designed to deceive users into revealing personal information, credentials, or financial data.

Fraud: Content used for scams, impersonation, or other deceptive practices.

Harassment: Content that harasses, threatens, bullies, or intimidates individuals.

Doxxing: Sharing private personal information without consent.
3. Prohibited Activities
In addition to prohibited content, the following activities are strictly forbidden:
3.1. Email Abuse (Alias)

Spam: Sending unsolicited bulk messages, unsolicited commercial email (UCE), or "spam" through our aliases.

Phishing Campaigns: Using aliases to conduct phishing attacks or distribute malicious links.

Email Bombing: Sending large volumes of emails to overwhelm recipients or systems.

Impersonation: Using aliases to impersonate individuals, organizations, or government entities.

Mailing List Abuse: Subscribing aliases to services without intent to use them, or using aliases to abuse free trials or promotions.
3.2. File Sharing Abuse (Drop)

Malware Distribution: Hosting or sharing files containing malicious software.

Piracy: Sharing copyrighted material without authorization.

Storage Abuse: Using Drop as a general-purpose backup, content delivery network (CDN), or cold storage service without intent to share.

Bandwidth Abuse: Artificially inflating download counts or bandwidth usage.
3.3. Platform Abuse

Rate Limit Circumvention: Attempting to bypass or circumvent rate limits, quotas, or usage restrictions.

Account Abuse: Creating multiple accounts to circumvent bans, limits, or to abuse free tiers.

Automated Abuse: Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to abuse the service without authorization.

Security Attacks: Attempting to gain unauthorized access to our systems, other users' accounts, or data.

DDoS Attacks: Attempting to disrupt, degrade, or overload our infrastructure.

Vulnerability Exploitation: Exploiting security vulnerabilities without responsible disclosure.
4. Enforcement
We take abuse reports seriously and enforce this policy consistently.
4.1. Detection Methods

User Reports: We investigate all abuse reports submitted via anon.li/report or abuse@anon.li.

Automated Detection: We use automated systems to detect malware, spam patterns, and known illegal content hashes.

Legal Requests: We respond to valid legal requests from law enforcement agencies.
4.2. Our Capabilities
Due to our zero-knowledge architecture for file sharing:
- We cannot read the contents of encrypted files
- We can only take action based on metadata, file hashes, or valid abuse reports
- We retain control over file links and can disable access to reported content
For email aliases:
- We do not store email content
- We can disable aliases and accounts
- We log minimal metadata for abuse investigation (retained for 7 days maximum)
4.3. Actions We May Take
Upon receiving a valid abuse report or detecting a violation, we may:
- Disable Access: Remove or disable the offending content, alias, or file link.
- Suspend Account: Temporarily or permanently suspend the responsible account.
- Terminate Account: Permanently terminate accounts for serious or repeated violations.
- Report to Authorities: Report illegal activity to law enforcement agencies.
- Preserve Evidence: Retain relevant data for legal proceedings as required by law.
4.4. Repeat Infringers
We maintain a policy of terminating accounts of users who repeatedly violate this AUP. Repeat violations may also result in permanent bans.
5. Reporting Abuse
If you encounter content on anon.li that violates this policy, please report it immediately:

Please include as much detail as possible:
- The URL or alias involved
- Description of the violation
- Any supporting evidence
- Your contact information (for follow-up if needed)
We aim to respond to all abuse reports within 24-48 hours.
6. Appeals
If you believe your content was removed or your account was suspended in error, you may appeal by contacting hi@anon.li with:
- Your account email
- Description of the situation
- Reason you believe the action was incorrect
We will review appeals and respond within 7 business days.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP to address new abuse patterns or legal requirements. Material changes will be announced on our website. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
